The client, a large International Bank, required assistance in reengineering its whole CA process. The handling of Corporate actions (CA) was only automated to a small extent as a high volume of CA transactions were still inputted manually into the system.

Client Challenge

  • Reach higher level of automation by decreasing manual input, creating a automated data feed upload into the diary system and designing an automated workflow to monitor deadlines and stages of CA events.
  • Decrease paper based operations and volume sensitive processes.
  • Improve internal communication to enable time efficient response.

Our Approach

  • As-Is analysis of CA processes with focus on identifying current inefficiencies.
  • Redesign of CA processes with definition of key and future functionality requirements including detailed gap analysis and business impact analysis.
  • Identify short term options through available ‘quick wins’ (i.e. tactical process or system related changes).
  • Define a long term strategic solution:
    • Identification of available solutions/providers on the market
    • High-level cost/benefit analysis
    • Recommendations according to pre-defined evaluation criteria
    • Vendor review and selection of a package
  • Delineate high-level master plan in order to scope implementation tasks, responsibilities, timeframe and budget.

Results

  • Benefits in terms of systems / processes:
    • Building of capacity
    • Increased productivity
    • Improved response time / response tracking
    • Effective information and workflow management
    • Timeliness and quality of data
  • Benefits for users:
    • Strengthened communication process
    • Reduced paper-handling
    • Enhanced transparency
    • Allowed time to focus on business CA issues
